Open on-line and by appointment, regular hours resume in May

New Era Gallery, located at 60 Main Street in Vinalhaven, was founded in 2002. The gallery currently exhibits the work of more than sixty artists, many of whom are known nationally and internationally, and nearly all of whom spend a significant part of their working lives on the island. A rotating schedule of small group and solo shows, artist talks, and performances fill the May through December season each year.

Gallery Director and painter/printmaker Elaine Austin Crossman moved to Vinalhaven in 1976, where she completed the work for her M.F.A. degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Knowledge of the depth and breadth of the art community on the island, coupled with the knowledge that most of the extraordinary work created here was never seen here prompted the founding of the gallery.
